Singapore Ranks First on EC-Council’s Global Ethical Hacking Leaderboard in February 2022

EC-Council, the world’s leader in cybersecurity training and certifications, gives cybersecurity professionals the opportunity to earn a highly coveted award. March 18, 2022, Tampa, FL: According to stats reported by CyberTalk.org and Proofpoint, 95% of all cybersecurity breaches are caused by human error, and 88% of organizations worldwide experience spear phishing attempts. It is with this understanding that EC-Council actively challenges the best and brightest international Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) graduates by encouraging them to put their skills to the test and earn a top 10 spot on the leaderboard. This February, Singapore did just that and led the way, earning the coveted number one position, followed closely by the Netherlands. The Global Ethical Hacking Leaderboard challenge, which included ethical hackers from Singapore, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, and the Philippines, was designed to promote growth amongst the international community. Each participant must pass both the C|EH knowledge-based exam and the 6-hour C|EH (Practical). Participants were scored using criteria that measured their ability to successfully navigate proctored, hands-on scenarios derived from real-world threats. Those who successfully completed the rigorous assessments were awarded the C|EH (Master) credential and earned a spot among the leaderboard’s top 10. Jun Hong Tan, a systems engineer in Singapore, earned a score of 87%, placing him in the number one position. Of this honor, he says, “Some of the tools used in the course I’ve had a chance to use before, while others I didn’t even know before I took the course.” “It is our mission to prepare those who want to make a significant difference in cybersecurity with the necessary skill set to do so,” said Jay Bavisi, President and CEO of EC-Council. “Our courses, trainers, and support staff are all trained to ensure that participants acquire the necessary skills to tackle some of the most difficult cyber challenges with confidence.” Ethical hacking is a career path with extensive growth opportunities. However, despite the demand for ethical hackers, there is a significant shortage of cybersecurity professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to combat cybercrime. EC-Council created the C|EH, a leading industry certification, to fill this gap by equipping cybersecurity professionals with the ability and information needed to tackle this growing crisis. The C|EH is an ANSI-recognized program that prepares learners for careers as security analysts, ethical hackers, vulnerability assessment analysts, network security engineers, and more.
