EC-Council appoints Neworder Training Academy as Accredited Training Partner for South Africa

Neworder Training Academy, a South Africa-based security organization, has been certified as an EC-Council’s Accredited Training Partner. The academy can now offer the EC-Council’s world-class courses to South African IT professionals. Students can now choose between classroom-based training and online self-study courses. The principal motivator behind this partnership relates to the impending global information security skills meltdown, which was highlighted by analysts across the globe and was brought to industry attention last year. By offering a range of information security-related training opportunities to IT professionals in South Africa (SA) as well as Africa, the academy hopes to not only address the current worldwide skills dilemma, but also boost SA as a lucrative and sought-after skills outsourcing destination. “The country’s ever-widening general IT skills gap has been viewed with increasing complacency by the industry,” remarks Marthinus Engelbrecht, CEO, Neworder Group. “The global information security skills famine, although a negative development by nature, places SA on par with the international technology industries, as lack of adequate skills is something that affects us all.” It is from this shared skilled shortage perspective, Engelbrecht believes, that SA stands only to gain. “We must embrace every opportunity to emerge advantageous from this so-called “global tragedy”, and as such, Neworder Training Academy has secured the ideal platform from which to do so,” he concludes. About EC-Council EC-Council has been the world’s leading information security certification body since the launch of their flagship program, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), which created the ethical hacking industry in 2002. Since the launch of CEH, EC-Council has added industry-leading programs to their portfolio to cover all aspects of information security, including EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA), Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI), Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO), among others. EC-Council Foundation, the non-profit branch of EC-Council, created Global CyberLympics, the world’s first global hacking competition. EC-Council Foundation also hosts a suite of conferences across the US and around the world, including Hacker Halted, Global CISO Forum, TakeDownCon, and CISO Summit.

80 delegates from 16 Arab countries participated in a closed-door cyber drill aimed at effectively combating cyber threats in the GCC states by EC-Council. Doha, Qatar, March 9, 2017: As information security becomes the biggest concerns of 2017, traditional technology leaders are scrambling to defend their corporate assets. Even the CERTs (Computer Emergency Response Team), who are experts in handling security incidents, are finding this to be a difficult challenge. To combat the challenge, EC-Council delivered its first cybersecurity workshop titled as “Offensive Defenses in Information Security” under its Cyber Wellness Center (CWC) initiative. 80 delegates from 16 Arab countries participated in a closed-door cyber drill aimed at effectively combating cyber threats in the GCC states, and served as a platform for fostering co-operation and discussions on recent cybersecurity challenges, encouraging interactions, and threat response capabilities. “Fulfilling the vision of creating a safer cybersecurity environment in the Arab Region, ARCC and EC-Council have partnered together to promote cybersecurity awareness mission and ensure a continued and collective effort in mitigating cyber threats among the region’s national Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs),” said Dr. Nadher Al-Safwani of Arab Regional Cyber Security Centre. “In the age of internet where almost every transaction happens with a click of a button, it is becoming increasingly important for us to be cyber secured,” said EC-Council Regional Director for India, Middle East and Africa, Akash Agarwal. He added “Our cyber drill is a testimony to our efforts of promoting cybersecurity awareness, handling cyber threats, and, thus, making the Web a safer place.” Under its umbrella, the CWC provides training in business-critical consulting and counter measures, in the field of cybersecurity, IT disaster recovery, emergency and crisis management, digital forensics, and information security management. Its objective is to increase organizational and community awareness about cyber security and promote the practice of securing the cyber space by following best practices and defense mechanisms while strengthening the protection of systems and data.

Koenig announces successful completion of first batch of trainees for its EC-Council ‘Certified Network Defender’ course

Koenig announces successful completion of first batch of trainees for its EC Council ‘Certified Network Defender’ course New program aimed at helping Koenig’s efforts to address cyber security skills gap in the region Koenig Solutions, a leading IT training provider and the world’s number one offshore training company, revealed the successful completion of the first batch of trainees for its new course offering, the EC Council ‘Certified Network Defender’ course. 13 participants completed the new course offering, which took place at the Koenig Training Solutions Centre in Dubai. The program has been designed to help address the growing cyber security skills gap in the region—as industry experts have noted the emergence of new cyber threats and criminals becoming more tech-savvy in their operations. Koenig is the first learning partner in the region to offer this course, potentially targeting the millions of IT and Network Administrators that remained untrained on network defense techniques. According to a report from Micro Market Monitor, the Middle East and African (MEA) region’s cyber security market is poised to grow to USD 13.43 billion by 2019. Network defense proves to be a timely and strategic course to offer as it represents a broader market globally, as compared to ethical hacking and penetration testing. In fact, the industry will face over 1.5 million unfilled IT security jobs globally in 2020–with 92 per cent of hiring businesses clamouring for highly skilled and fully certified candidates to fill in the openings. To help address this issue, Koenig believes focusing on people and essentially training up the next generation of workers in cybersecurity skills is the first step towards addressing this gap. “We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the first batch that enrolled for our new EC Council ‘Certified Network Defender’ course. This new offering proves to be both timely and strategic as the number of people and the amount of information available online continues to grow along with the need for more cyber security professionals,” said Aditya Girish, Territory Manager Middle East, Koenig Solutions. “The need to secure network and information systems in the Middle East in general and the UAE in particular, is an essential factor that needs to be addressed in order to keep the online economy running and to ensure economic prosperity. To reduce the skills gap and train a new generation of security specialists, organisations, higher education establishments, and training centres should share responsibility and ideally act together to combat the growing threats in today’s connected world.” Koenig’s ‘Certified Network Defender’ course is facilitated by EC-Council Certified Instructors with over than 10 years’ experience in the technical and training field. Network professionals with certifications from the likes of CCNA, Network+, Security+, are ideal candidates that need to take this course to upgrade their skills. The course forms the basis on which skilled professionals can pursue Certified Ethical hacking (CEH) and EC-council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA) courses thereafter. The program is designed to give students the opportunity to practice architectural thinking in the design of enterprise IT systems while also be trained on the use of practical tools and techniques, which they can take back and implement in their companies and organizations. “A recent industry report has forecasted that IT global spending on cybersecurity will grow to USD 170 billion by 2020—which can be attributed to the emergence and continued growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) security market, which is expected to grow from USD 6.89 billion in 2015 to nearly USD 29 billion by 2020. With this in mind, the cyber security market is poised to yield huge economic opportunities. We remain committed to strengthening the UAE’s cyber security industry, and help businesses in the country to seize these opportunities and reinforce the trust of citizens and businesses in the digital world,” concluded Girish. About EC-Council EC-Council has been the world’s leading information-security certification body since the launch of their flagship program, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), which created the ethical hacking industry in 2002.
