Cloud Security is the Greatest Area of Concern for Cybersecurity Leaders, as Noted in EC-Council’s 2023 Certified CISO Hall of Fame Report

A survey of global cybersecurity leaders through the 2023 Certified CISO Hall of Fame Report commissioned by EC-Council identified 4 primary areas of grave concern: cloud security, data security, security governance and lack of cybersecurity talent Tampa, Fla. (June 2, 2023) — EC-Council, the global leader in cybersecurity education and training, released its Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO) Hall of Fame Report today, honoring the top 50 Certified CISOs globally. This report reveals that approximately 50% of surveyed information security leaders identified cloud security as their top concern. Findings from the report suggest the top cybersecurity concerns with which organizations struggle and highlights the need for implementing robust security frameworks with skilled cybersecurity professionals to effectively contain emerging threats. On average, an enterprise uses approximately 1,295 cloud services, while an employee uses at least 36 cloud-based services daily. Cloud security risk is real for businesses. In a recent report published by IBM, the studied organizations experienced more than one data breach, reaching an all-time high frequency, and the cost of a data breach averaged USD 4.35 million. The respondents to the survey were cybersecurity leaders who hail from every region of the globe, with the highest concentrations in Asia and North America. Jordan (April 25, 2023): EC-Council, the creator of industry-leading certifications such as the Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), Certified Network Defender (C|ND), Certified Cloud Security Professional (C|CSE), and more, has collaborated with Green Circle to help deserving candidates in Jordan kickstart their cybersecurity careers with the Certified Cybersecurity Technician (C|CT) scholarship. The four-hour-long capture-the-flag (CTF) style competition, which was themed on social engineering attacks, attracted top ethical hackers from around the world, who vied for the coveted top 10 rankings on the global leaderboard rankings After a challenging competition that tested the participants’ competence in various cybersecurity issues, Heitor Magnani, a seasoned ethical hacker from Brazil, secured the top spot in the competition, followed closely by Marjan Sterjev from Macedonia in second place and Prajwal A from India in third place. The C|EH competition is designed to evaluate the participants’ ethical hacking prowess and to recognize their expertise in the field. It aims to encourage ethical hackers to stay abreast of the latest trends and techniques in the cybersecurity industry and to hone their skills in identifying vulnerabilities and protecting against cyber threats. The April challenge concentrated on social engineering attacks, which are becoming more widespread in today’s digital landscape. Social engineering attacks employ psychological manipulation to trick people into exposing personal information or acting in ways that endanger their safety. Competitions were hosted in EC-Council’s patented Cyber-Q range that featured a series of challenges to test participants’ ability to detect and prevent phishing, pretexting, baiting, etc., attempts.
